Michael Pneuma
Qualified Goldsmith and Diamond-Gemstone Setter - Master Artisan
1983 Michael Pneuma entered the jewellery manufacturing industry as an apprentice.
1987 He qualified as a Goldsmith . He then started his own business in 1987 to 2001 working alone to specialise in manufacturing high-level jewellery to international standard whilst manufacturing and growing his client base as a single manufacturer.
2002 PJ was registered, and the company was opened to the public from a commercial premise for custom hand-crafted manufacturing of uniquely designed fine jewellery (Michael also began training apprentice’s). Michael Pneuma participated in the writing and validating of all learning programmes at the MQA for jewellery manufacturing.
2005 PJ training Programme was developed by Michael Pneuma until he was joined by another Master Jeweller Dieter-Wolf Dorr. PJ learners are being trained today still with a combination of MQA and PJ’s training programme and material.
2006 PJ was chosen by DoL to train the first HDSA Trade Test official to become the National Trade Test officer for Goldsmiths at INDLELA (Bernice Dickson-Rabothata).
2008 PJ was contracted by MQA to assess all the trainers delivering training at Learnership training providers to ascertain the trainer’s competence to deliver Learnerships training.
2016 installed our own Trade Test centre which is fully Accredited by NAMB and QCTO and is the only one currently in Gauteng for the Goldsmith and Diamond setting qualification (National certificate). PJ became and is still currently the only training provider in the jewellery sector in SA that is a QCTO accredited for Goldsmith training. We have therefore successfully trained the most artisans to the highest level. Of which 90% are gainfully employed after training. They are a combination of 147 Goldsmiths, Diamond Setters and Engravers.
Wolf-Dieter Dorr
Qualified Goldsmith and Diamond-Gemstone Setter - Master Artisan
Master Artisan Mr Wolf-Dieter Dorr qualified as a Master Gold and Silversmith in 1967 in Austria his home country. He received his National Trade Certificate for Diamond and Gemstone Setting November 2007 in South Africa. He has been with Pneuma Jewellers since 2008 and has assisted with our learners and training programme. Thus he is our Master Goldsmith and Diamond and Gemstone setter, he is also one of the few people still able to Hand Engraver.
Phumlani Mngoma
Qualified Goldsmith and Diamond-Gemstone Setter
He studied at Durban University of Technology and completed is Jewellery Design and Manufacture in 2011. He joined Pneuma Jewellers as a Goldsmith in the Graduate Development programme and completed in 2013, he then entered into the Artisan Diamond and Gemstone setting programme in 2014 and completed in 2017. He became a Qualified Goldsmith April 2016 and Qualified Diamond and Gemstone setter in November 2017 when he received his National Trade Certificate. He also became a certified Assessor and Moderator in October 2017. He is part of Pneuma Jewellers as a Senior Goldsmith, Diamond and Gemstone setter and a Lead trainer for our learners.
Agose Mokoena
Qualified Goldsmith and Diamond-Gemstone Setter
He studied at Central University of Technology and completed is Jewellery Design and Manufacture in 2010. He joined Pneuma Jewellers as a Goldsmith in the Graduate Development programme and completed in 2013, he then entered into the Artisan Diamond and Gemstone setting programme in 2014 and completed in 2017. He became a Qualified Goldsmith February 2017 and Qualified Diamond and Gemstone setter in August 2018 when he received his National Trade Certificate. He also became a certified Assessor and Moderator in April 2019. He is part of Pneuma Jewellers as a Senior Goldsmith, Diamond and Gemstone setter and a Lead trainer for our learners.
Loyiso Mbunjana
Qualified Goldsmith
He studied at University of Johannesburg and completed his Jewellery Design and Manufacture in 2004. He then joined Pneuma Jewellers as a Goldsmith in the Graduate Development programme and completed in 2007 with his National Trade Certificate. Since Loyiso then he has joined Pneuma Jewellers family as an employee and is now one of our best senior Goldsmith jewellers
Mahlomola (Judo) Tjakata
Qualified Goldsmith
He studied at Central University of Technology and completed is Jewellery Design and Manufacture in 2015. He joined Pneuma Jewellers as a Goldsmith in the Graduate Development programme and completed in 2018 He became a Qualified Goldsmith July 2017 with his National Trade Certificate. He is currently becoming a Diamond and Gemstone setting to complete with his National Trade Certificate in 2020. He completed his Coaches course in July 2019 and is one of our Junior Goldsmith, Diamond and Gemstone setter and a junior trainer for our learners.
Wiseman Buhlalu
Goldsmith and Diamond-Gemstone Setter
He studied through Imfundiso Durnacol Jewellery School and completed his learnership in 2006. He joined Pneuma Jewellers in 2013 after been in the Jewellery industry at other companies for skills and workmanship. He has since joined our Diamond and Gemstone setting programme as well in order to gain his National Trade Certificate in 2020. He has completed as an Assessor in October 2018 and is now one of our Inhouse trainers for learners.
